The Kona Airport also known as (KOA) is located on the west side of Big Island while the Hilo airport or (ITO) is located on the east side of the island. Both offer national as well as international carriers. The time taken to drive from the Kona airport to Hilo is about 2 hours 14 minutes. If you wish to travel from Kona to Volcano it will take 2 hours 30 minutes. For a trip from Kona to Waimea it takes around 50 minutes. On the other hand if you want to travel from Hilo airport to Volcano it will take 45 minutes, from Hilo to Waimea will take 1 hour 15 minutes and from Hilo to Kohala will take 1 hour 45 minutes.
